Top 5 LPGA Star Qualities

All-Star Qualities
Annika Sorenstam's mental make-up: It's no surprise that the No. 1 players in both the men's and women's games for much of the last decade have had the strongest mental abilities on their respective tours. Annika, much like Tiger Woods, often came to the first tee seemingly a shot or two ahead of the field. That translated to 72 tour wins and 10 major titles.

Nancy Lopez's star power: Before ESPN and the Internet were making stars out of just about everyone, Lopez took not only the LPGA by storm but our sporting nation as well. In her rookie season in 1978, a 21-year-old Lopez won nine tournaments, including a still record five events in a row. She was LPGA Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year and was named the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year. Her biggest boost to stardom, however, came from the iconic picture of her smiling on the cover of Sports Illustrated. She's been America's golf darling ever since – even in her 50s.

Lorena Ochoa's determination: Success didn't come easy for Ochoa, at least not in her first few years on the LPGA. Although a celebrated amateur and college star, Ochoa had a rough first few years on tour, failing to meet expectations and suffering some serious hearbreaks. But showing the determination she no doubt acquired growing up in Guadalajara, Mexico, Ochoa finally busted through and won her first major championship in 2007 and ultimately supplanted Sorenstam as the best player in the women's game.

Dottie Pepper's fire: To say Pepper was a heated competitor is an understatement. Although golf is, for the most part, a solitary sport, Pepper got a chance to show off her fiery side every two years during the Solheim Cup. In that format, Pepper burned brightly, putting together a remarkable 13-5-2 record during her six years on the American team.

Michelle Wie's swing: You can argue all you want about how she has yet to win on the LPGA, but you cannot argue with the beauty of her golf swing. Her long, fluid and athletic swing is almost picture perfect, at times compared to that of Tiger. Now, if she can just learn of few tricks from the above-mentioned ladies, the sky will once again be the limit for Wie.
