10NBC's Miller, Harrington at odds

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Padraig Harrington responded Saturday to NBC analyst Johnny Miller’s pointed advice.
During the telecast of the U.S. Open's second round, Miller said he wasn’t sure if Harrington would take his advice, but that he recommends Harrington abandon the draw he’s working on and return to the high fade that helped Harrington win his three major championships.
Harrington, who shot a pair of 76s and missed the U.S. Open cut, said the fade is still his primary ball flight, or at least his intended flight.
“I tried to play with a draw when I won the (British) Open in 2007, and the last 18 months, I’ve played with a fade,” Harrington said. “Anytime you saw those hooks, I was aiming left to play a fade. I can’t draw the ball to save my life. If I could draw the ball, I’d be OK. That’s the reason I stopped trying to draw it. When I’d make a good swing, and try to draw it, I’d hit it dead-straight right, I’d push it. So, no, the last shot I could ever try and play, and this is why I’ve been working on my swing, is to try and draw it. So I’ve been trying to fade it. Obviously, I’ve done a poor job of it.”
Harrington said his problem right now is he has “no shape” because of problems with his swing.
After entering the year having won back-to-back majors and three of the last six majors, Harrington has now missed the cut in four of his last five PGA Tour starts. He has been under scrutiny for work to improve the swing that won those majors.
