According to sources close to the situation, Tiger Woods will not play this week’s Chevron World Challenge in the wake of last week’s accident outside his Isleworth home.

There has been no announcement on Woods’ Web site.

For the second consecutive year the world No. 1 will not be playing the event that benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation. He missed the tournament last year while recovering from knee surgery.

It remains unclear whether doctors will allow him to travel to California from Florida later this week.

According to sources, doctors have advised him that he should not travel due to headaches and soreness.

“Well , who saw this coming and near christmas to boot. Blessed with extreme talent, a beautiful wife, two kids, health and has more money than he will probably ever need, it just was not good enough. Most of us would be gratefull , thankful and estatic to have 1/1000th of what he has. I am sure he earned it but when is enough ,enough. Big companies chase people like this paying them huge money which even makes them richer to endorse their products and or marketing events such as charity. What i think we are losing is that alot of people who ask for sponsorship who are honest, loyal ethical people and dedicated are denied and in mosts cases could not only really use the money but spend it wisely. Numbers indicate a budget of 42 million is required to field a nascar team for one year. You could sponsor 42 teams or people for that amount and 84 @ 500K. I think we have to get back to that, as really it is all the consumers in the various markets that purchase the products or services. I am sure Chevron and the golf tournament have generated alot of monies for the charity and the people who need it. But 42 0r 84 teams or people could also do charity work in their cities and markets for people who need it . Both Chevron as a corporation and Tiger have done wonderful things for society over the years but unfortunately having all your eggs in one basket makes situations like this very difficult for all parties involved especially the charities. Lets not let these needy kids and families suffer for someones poor judgement and actions and support them fully as past years. I would also like to see Chevron and other large corporations consider future sponsorships on a smaller scale where more people will benefit in the end. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season.”

“The European press is similar to the National Enquirer with regard to reporting about Tiger's automobile accident. Tiger may eventually overcome the aftermath of the accident, however, his credibility regarding family and image for advertising endorsements will suffer somewhat as reflected in the comments herein. I merely add that actions/inactions take by Tiger regarding his tournament or the accident, consequences will be forthcoming, negative or positive. Jack Nicklaus balanced a wonderful family, one without controversy, with his golf career. Macer”

“Maybe we should rethink the animal reference for Eldrick. How about Ostrich Woods-sticking your head in the sand to avoid being noticed. Or, Possum Woods-always playing dead when trouble is near. What about Shark Woods. No backbone. Oops, that one's taken.... Man up and show up for your tourney.”

“To withdraw because of injury is fine but to not attend his own tournament and thank the players and the sponsors with a Dr. excuse is so grade school.”

“I watched the Jim Grey interview of President Clinton at 5:30pm last evening.

Clinton was waxing poetic how important this Tiger Woods Teaching effort was to the world, the kids and Tiger.

I once again believe President Clinton. There is NO way Tiger will miss this event and disappoint so many children and fans.

Further, he will be beaming from ear to ear, signing autographs and conversing with the galleries.

    Regards, Inga”
