Tiger Woods faced an unusual reception when he delivered a half-time speech at this past week's Stanford-California football game.

Woods, who was on hand to serve as honory captain and be inducted into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame, gave a brief talk at midfield during halftime. Though the game was at Stanford, California fans roundly booed Woods, which caught him offguard.

The Golden Bears beat the Cardinal, 34-28.

“Sorry about that. I guess the comments I made earlier were on a different, yet eerily similar "story". This has generated more stories than any real golf news all week! I have counted five "headlines" about this on the site today. As I said last night, golf season is really over now. (Sigh)”

“Wow! A true plethora of deletions. Someone didn't like the arguments that didn't line up with their opinions, evidently. It's a shame. ”

“Biggn'.....No kidding....I used to live in Denver and it seriously hampered by playing. Love Denver.....love golf more. If you like movies with great special effects (not much plot), go see 2012.....It's a "brain-dead" movie...no thinking required....:)”

“Why is it wives say "you never get excited about anything" and then when you do they want you to sit down and shut up??? Glad to hear ya'll are still able to play...I really do feel sorry for those folks who have to hibernate. Life is still good. MWH”

“Biggn'.....I live in the "deep" south, so I still play almost everyday, except Mondays when the course is closed. Just having fun with the Cal thing, but my wife was ticked at me for standing and cheering, but she really had enough when I started singing....na na nana, na na nana, hey hey...good-bye......:)”

“Living here on terra firma (so far at least) in Cal it's not unexpected to hear of your reaction. After all how could you possibly restrain your bitterness toward us when we're still playing golf in shorts the week before Thanksgiving. But I must admit I keep the boat gassed up and ready in the driveway just in case we see water running in the streets. Life is good, MWH”

“What class from the Cal fans. I went to see the movie "2012" and my favorite part was when California slid off into the ocean. Great special effects, it looked real, but I guess standing up and cheering was a little over the top......go figure.....:)”
