Hi, I'm Brad Brewer from the GolfChannel.com Academy. I'm gonna talk to you advance players about grip pressure and how important it is to be able to hit the shape of shot you're looking for. If you want to hit a fade, we got to stop this clubface from closing down; so we're gonna firm up the last 3 fingers in the left. That's gonna allow us to be able to keep the clubface open going through the strike and create a fade. If you want to hit a draw, we need to loosen the grip pressure. Get it nice and soft especially in the last 3 fingers. So, that will encourage the toe to pass and get the draw spin we're looking for. So let me demonstrate for you. A little fade first. The last 3 fingers, you're gonna hold on a little bit more firm. There's our nice little drop fade. Now I'm gonna loosen up the grip pressure and work a little draw spin. There it is. Nice little draw. So remember, next time you go to the golf course and you're trying to hit those little shape shots firmer for the fade softer for the draw. It will help you everytime.

    “Mark, These instructionals are supose to be issolated sound bites on specific topics to certain ability levels. There is a swing overview clip as well as how to setup correctly to create shot shape if you are looking for more detail. This was only about how grip pressure effects the squareness of the club face through the strike, thus shaping left or right. Many golfers can setup with a draw stance and hit a push slice because of firm grip pressure... I hope that helps explain why we shot it like we did. Happy golfing Brad Brewer”
