One of the curses of putting is being overly wristy. I see a lot of players who let their wrists break down at impact. Certainly there may be a little bit of flow and movement in the hands as you swing the putter back and through, but you don't want to be overly wristy.
Here's a way to help eliminate extra wrist action from your stroke. It's really all about the way you hold the putter. Many players putt with the same grip that they use to swing the club. But what you should really do is grip your putter with your hands turned outward. Instead of having your palms facing each other, feel as though both palms face more toward the ball. As a result, your elbows and upper arms will turn inward keeping them in front of your chest. This technique will really help you keep your wrists firm during the stroke. Simply take hold of your putter by turning your hands outward while letting your elbows turn inward. Then setup and make a nice, firm stroke. Try this grip. You will be amazed! |
