The new format using the groups is too confusing. It is as confusing as the Fed Ex cup. Why did they use groups?

Why not do it the old fasioned way-- win and advance. Lose and go home. It is much easier to follow and just as interesting.

I really don't see how this format is confusing.

Its different, not confusing if you think about..

Think about someone like Anthony Kim, travels 4000 miles to get to the tournament, shoots the equivalent 6 under par and is eliminated from the tournament in one day..

I like the format.

It's a little different but I like it.
Playing out the group matches and using the net holes won/lost to break ties on wins seems fair to me.

Easiest way is to not think of it in golf terms. It is more like the round robin of a soccer/hockey tournament. Ie/ Kim, McIlroy, Stenson and Cabrera go in a 4 person round robin. Kim beats Mc Ilroy, and Cabrera but loses to Stenson to go 2 - 1. Stenson beats Kim, and Cabrera but loses to Mc Ilroy to go an identical 2 - 1. Stenson wins 7 holes vs Kim, 6 holes vs Cabrera but only 1 hole vs Mc Ilroy for a total of 14 holes won. Kim wins 5 holes vs Stenson, 6 holes vs Cabrera and 5 holes vs Mc Ilroy for a total of 16 holes won. 16 beats 14, thus Kim wins.

At the end of the day, the best player won.

It is like the round robin in year-end tennis championship. It is to ensure that the bigger stars don't get eliminated after one showing.
