The fall finish is the most important time of the year, and its the most exciting to watch, and we get to see a variety of golf.

Actually, there are quite a few real golf fans on this board who care. Personally, I'm more interested in the Singapore Open and the MatchPlay event in England, but there are some here who are following certain players to see if they retain their tour card or not.

Since you've already admitted you only care about one player in the game, it might be best for you to stay in the "24/7 Tiger" section, and not start threads in the other sections where real golf fans visit.

++++++++++++

Thanks TWG... you're right. I for one am not only watching to see if Fowler can take another step, but there are two locals I'm very interested in as well. (Maggert and Thatcher, both right around 125 on the list) We followed these guys through high-school, college and into the pros, why wouldn't we care now. I don't expect folks who don't know "my guys" to care one way or another, but there's about 130 "other" stories out there, that I sure somebody cares about. For example, I'll guarantee you the folks in tiny Andrews, TX care how their favorite son, Chad Campbell plays.

But there are other story lines that interest me as well. I certainly don't obsess, but I wonder how or if guys like Duval and Daly can resurrect their careers. Obviously the Fowler, Sim angles are worthy story lines as well.

Granted... Singapore and the HSBC may feature better fields, and I'll be watching them too, but to the Maggerts, Thatchers, Duval's, Daly's and Fowler's of the world, there's nothing in golf going on half a world away that's any more important than the Viking Classic.

REAL golf fans recognize that...

"...Does anybody really care?..."

Apparently you cared enough to start a thread on this topic.

I'll watch , if the rain holds off

fall series offers looks at more courses, players with a purpose.

Go watch football. Yell when you make 2 yards. Yell when you lose 2 yards.

Exciting.....

It will be interesting to see if Rickie Fowler can manage another top 10 and get closer to earning a tour card but I am not interested in the bottom of the PGA TOUR, the guys fighting to keep their cards.

Yes, but never fear, I'm sure you can find some dvd's of past Tiger triumphs to view, and view again.

Will you allow me to fiddle with the very end of your post, Robo, to reflect what I think REAL golf fans recognise?

Singapore and the HSBC may feature better fields ... but to the Maggerts, Thatchers, Duvals, Dalys and Fowlers of the world, there's nothing in golf going on half a world away that's any more important than the Viking Classic IS TO THEM.

OK... cool.. I thought mine conveyed the same idea... but either way is fine to me. But just to be clear... what my favorite local guys do at the Viking (if they ever get to play it) IS more important TO ME than Singapore or HSBC
