Helping Hackers - DROP DOWN A CLUB    Back to Topics  Page: 1 of 4

Was talking to a guy I used to play with every Sunday, but since I'm only playing once a week, and mid-week at that, I no longer play with that group. However, he is a good golfer - probably a 7-10 handicap, and hits the ball a ton. Said he was having control problems and played with a scratch recently who suggested he was swinging too hard and he'd benefit from dropping down a club and swinging easier. Suddenly, he said, he was hitting the ball more accurately, and also getting more distance. Such a simple solution.

As a senior-senior I've been doing that for the past few years and it works! I'm keeping the ball in play, scoring very well for my age.... and I'm not as tired after a round from "swinging from the heels" on every fairway shot.

Just thought this idea might be helpful to some of the readership. If you try it, let us know if it works.

Drop down a club... and swing easy.

Hit 'em nice.

I've been doing that for a while now and yes, it has helped my accuracy. Unlike you however I've seen some loss of distance. It's been a good trade off though for me.

good thought -- and it also brings to mind the concept that too often people gauge their clubchoice off the max distance they can hit at club, instead of the AVERAGE "straight" distance.

>>AVERAGE "straight" distance.

Ah,...there is such a concept?

Cheers.

How would you know? You don't play golf, you sit there and respond to Every Single Thread.
Sit there and post from your bed until the nurse comes to empty your bag.

"Sit there and post from your bed until the nurse comes to empty your bag."

I try to stay out of the personal stuff. But that's a funny line.

If golfers would simply play the correct tees a lot of that would solve itself. In my area, we have 9 18 hole courses and I play them all from time to time. Some I play more, some less. Depending on the time of the year, conditions, and course length, I simply move back or move up. 6700-6800 when it is dry is fine for me. 7000 is pushing it a little. In good conditions, 6200-6300 is a little short. Rainy, windy, cool conditions, it is fine.

No hurt, just exposing you for what you are. A sissy that can dish it out but can't take it.

Now run along and report that I said sissy.

ROFLOL - you were the one exposed for what you are, a big-mouthed bully that can't take his punishment like a man (getting what you deserved) and instead runs around whining like a little girl... you're pitifully laughable...LOL
