Bob Griese, who made the comment in reference to Juan Pablo Montoya of NASCAR.

I could see if a TGC announcer dropped a taco line while announcing an LPGA event. But this isn't even remotely associated with GOLF ON TV !

What happened to Griese is, of course, absurd.

While the same thing happen to another announcer if he/she says...

An Irish guy is going out for corned beef and cabbage?

A German guy is going out for Wienerschnitzel?

An Italian guy is going out for pasta?

A Brit is going out for fish and chips?

A Hungarian is going out for goulash?

etc, etc, etc.

I found another area we could agree on Doc. The suspension is absurd.

Dang, aren't tacos Mexican anyway??

Doc,
I agree, the networks are being run by the compliance lawyers who feel that any misplaced word or phrase is reason for suspension or even firing. Even if one person out of hundreds of thousands takes offense to it, they feel they have to over react. Like certain ethnic groups don't like certain foods ? Suppose if I said a Korean guy going out for a little dog ? How do they know I'm not referring to a hot dog ?

Yosh, you're right about the over ultra-sensitivity people not involved in something seem to have. No matter what anyone says, no matter how innocent it is, there's always someone who'll come along and tell you you insulted someone.
