One of the most common faults of many amateur players is the reverse weight shift. That is when the weight stays on the forward foot during the backswing and then moves to back foot during the through swing.

Backswing Correction:
Weight back

Your body weight should really follow the direction that the club is traveling. When you swing the club back, your body weight should follow where your arms are going. When you swing forward, your body weight should follow your arms and move forward.

Step Back...Step Forward Drill

Here's a great drill to demonstrate the concept of weight shift. Setup to a ball with your feet together. As you swing the club back, take a step back and let your body move back. As you swing the club forward, take a step forward and let your body move forward. Understanding what your weight should do in the golf swing will assist you with playing good golf.
