Ashleigh Korzack and Ashley Davis want everyone to think they are an example of “blonde leading the blonde,” and their arrival to the audition for Highway 18 only fueled the fire. With the audition 15 miles from the Orlando airport, they somehow ended up 80 miles away at Daytona Beach before realizing they went the wrong direction.

Directionally challenged, maybe, but no one can discount their competitive fire. Best friends since sixth grade, the two played nearly every sport growing up and competed on numerous sports teams together in elementary and high school, each trying to outdo one another. Davis was one of Canada’s top junior alpine ski racers, while Korzack played competitive volleyball for several years.

The duo’s competitiveness and athleticism are genetic. Davis’ father was a three-time All-American golfer at The Ohio State University and her grandfather, Frank Davis, is in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Korzack’s father played professional hockey with the American Hockey League (AHL).

Golf became a part of each other’s lives in high school, and both earned golf scholarships – Davis to Tennessee State University and Korzack to Mississippi State University.

Davis transferred her sophomore year to Old Dominion University in Virginia, but not before claiming the 2003 PGA Minority Collegiate Championship while attending of Tennessee State.

“My coach at Tennessee State was amazing. He really helped me, and by the end of the year I got really good.

“After I transferred to Old Dominion, I grew a lot as a player,” said Davis. “I worked really hard and transferred my skiing work ethic to golf.”

Korzack did not take up competitive golf until her junior year of high school. But the game came naturally to her. She was the captain of her high school team her senior year because, “I was the first person to hit the 150-yard sign in practice.”

After talking with several schools, Korzack settled on Mississippi State University, where she was a member of the women’s golf team all four years. She posted her collegiate career-best scores in the final event her senior year, when she shot 71-70, featuring two eagles during her final round. She graduated in 2007, and is currently enrolled in Mississippi State’s graduate school program.

Korzack and Davis have a lifetime of adventures and memories together. They plan to take their intimate knowledge of each other’s personalities and golf game to surprise everyone on Highway 18.
