“How is it that VJ continue's to wear a Stanford logo on his shirt? He finally gave up the logo bag this week and will carry the Cleveland bag for the rest of the season. I would think Veej would want to ditch the logo just in case he runs into a guy or 2 that was swindled out of millions in the Ponzi scheme. Guilty or not guilty, Stanford is guilty in the court of public opinion and Veej is a very public figure. I understand wanting to support your best friend, but man that's a slap in the face to a lot of people who lost a lot $$$$$$. ”

“Mettler, your description of how things are done in Eastern continent countries reads like how things get done in the United States' sean3, I'm always open for growth, thank you for the grammar lesson. Please tell me why "as usual I don't make sense." Macer ”

“well said. So what if Allen Stanford is found guilty? Will that make VJ guilty? It is always easy to stand on our moral high ground and judge people.”

“Most people who believe VJ cheated in 1985, have access to facts that a mere mortal is not supposed to have. Also they have absolute faith in the character of Eastern continent countries. I can tell you what I have heard locals say in those countries; value of life is about $50 US dollars; practically anything can be bought; no government work gets done unless there is something paid under the table (government just can’t afford to pay their employees at par with NA, so employees subsidize their income); if you are connected with a politician (guy who accused VJ was connected) than your ego already becomes larger than anything anyone can wrap their arms around. So did Vijay cheat? Maybe he did maybe he did not. I certainly don’t have a crystal ball to know the truth. Last year the Asian tour awarded Vijay a lifetime honorary membership in Asian Golf Tour. Go figure, a cheater is honored with a free life time honor where he should have been roasted over an open fire for miscounting, if that is what he did. But in North America where we do no wrong, and we have the luxury and are free to judge and automatically assume (ass ... u …me) guilt based merely on popular opinion.”

“If VJ did not commit the "alleged" deed of cheating, then his suspension from the Asian Tour was for something else? I don't think so. Back in 1985, the act of cheating was frowned on much more than it is today. Today, if enforced, cheating is often considered just a simple rules violation, and a one tournament DQ. Yes VJ has done a lot for children charities, which is a good thing, and is a latent personal required tax write off for these high dollar golf pros. But, as the old saying goes "birds of a feather....." Patch”

“V.J. Singh did not play the St. Jude Classic this year and his Eagles for Kids is one of Singh's stronger causes. Why didn't V.J. play the St. Jude's? Is V.J. under contract to continue to wear the Standord hat? Stanford is guilty until proven innocent, does the same apply to V.J. early in his career when he allegedly cheated during a tournament? V.J. had done much for golf and his commitment to charity is extremely strong. Macer”

“What may be interesting is seeing if any of the PGA Tour pension money vaporized with the Stanford organization. It would makes sense that if Stanford was a title sponsor of Tour events that the Tour office would reciprocate and place investments with him.Coursedoctor also makes a valid point concerning shabby, overzealous prosecutions by the Federal government, so I guess that time will tell.”

“I guess it shouldn't surprise anyone that a guy accused of cheating on more than one occassion in the past a) would support another cheater and b) doesn't know the rules or bother to find out that he cannot post bail for someone since he is not a citizen. If he had bothered to stop and think about someone other than himself for 2 minutes - specifically the hundreds if not thousands of investors who will lose their Stanford Financial investments made in good faith - he would have left the guy who supposedly has millions tucked away to fend for himself. VJ, you are truly an idiot.”

“I would say that it shows character. In times where many souls are available for sale to the highest bidder (or for that matter any bidder), it takes guts to stand up and support a friend in need. Vijay probably believes that Alan Stanford is innocent and wants to help a friend in need. Alan has not been proven guilty in a court of law as yet. VJ also believes in pay-it-forward. Some people have unselfishly helped him along his journey and he helps others along the way whenever he can. During 2008 PGA Championship I vent to Detroit to see my golf heroes (mainly VJ, I must admit). My girlfriend is also a big fan of VJ and wanted his autograph (and only his) but VJ ignored her, not once but 3 times. But what I did notice was that he did not miss signing for young fans and there were many. He really touched my heart when he went back to pick up an autographed hat that he had tossed to a youngster, who failed to catch it. Sure the man can be a prick at times, but I am sure he is an extremely decent person if you really get to know him. By the way have many people noticed that a significant number of good PGA golf professionals stopped playing well after drug testing started in July 2008. Are they guilty of using drugs? None of us fans will ever know. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. We should extend the same courtesy to VJ and Alan. Disclaimer, I have no personal knowledge of any dealings between VJ and Alan Stanford or even what Alan has done wrong. I am, however, a diehard fan of VJ, mainly because he is a self made person and he is an inspiration to me. ”
