“As a resident of the area I think it is great - with a few caveats. It seems like the course will be pretty beaten up by the time the men get done. Also I wonder about golf fatigue. We all love it when the Opens are played here but when they leave we have pretty much had our fill. Anyway, I hope it goes well. It will be interesting in any case. “I can understand the cost savings factor concerning course set up (leaving grandstands, corporate tents and concession stands) for 2 weeks straight; however what would be the impact of the course hosting 2 major USGA events in consecutive weeks? I attended the womens open when it was at Pine Needles and it was a big draw there. How much will it cost the USGA to get number 2 back in shape following these events? Maybe if there was a full week between each event to allow the course to recover would be better way to go. The grandstands and tents could be left up. ”
