“I am sure every location is different, but where I am in the Tampa Bay area there are many flea markets. These flea markets have golf sections that sell used balls. There are alot of hackers who hit a Pro V1 once in the trees to later be found sold at discount. I buy a 12-pack for $17.00 ”

“In John's defense, he said his carry was 240, for all we know he has a low ball flight and ends up 275 yards...”

“John...how could you hit your 8 iron at a PGA tour distance of 150 yards while you can hit your driver 240??? Doesn't make sense...”

“The last great ball made (and don't laugh though I know you will) was the Shark ball. Those were the longest balls I have ever found next to the old Slazenger balls. Seriously what I have found when trying different balls is that it really depends on the golfer and not as much the ball. I see plenty of Pro V's going right and plenty of cheaper balls out performing them. I use the Nike Juice ball because it spins very low and for me that is great because when it gets windy in Florida you don't want a high ball spinning. I practice at the PGA learning center in Port St Lucie and all they use is Titleist Pro v's. They are great and I would love to play them but I can't afford them. That is why I stay with the Nike Juice. ”

“Frank: Thank John for asking that question about premium balls. I have ask that question myself and have experimented with lessor Callaway balls and Nike balls. I always go back to the Pro VI and Pro VIx. allen”

“fstreever - nice one! i like!! i try to do that whenever I get the chance too!! :P I know what you mean - there's some obvious spots to look on most courses... As the starter, you have a natural advantage though!”

“As a starter at a local daily fee course, I know where the wannabe's lose their PV1s. Taking a few minutes late in the pm, I haven't bought a ball in years, and I play with new ones all the time. Cost? Priceless!”

“For John, I know exactly what you mean about cost of golf balls...here's your solution...eBay! Go and look for "Titleist pro-v1 A+ through A++++". Great almost perfect golf balls at around or just over $1/ball. I recently bought 100 almost perfect Pro-v1s for $130. I am a 7-handicap. Need I say more? ”
