The mission of the Golf Channel Amateur Tour is to provide amateur golfers, nationwide, a professionally organized format in order to compete at the highest possible level. Our goal is for our members to receive a treatment comparable to what a golfer would get playing on a professional tour.
A 1-Year membership to the Tour entitles you to compete head-to-head against other players of your same skill level.
Note: Memberships purchased mid-season extend into the next year.
Players are divided amongst six flights based on an initial verifiable USGA Handicap Index®. In order to prevent 'sandbagging' members are eventually flighted by rounds played exclusively on the Golf Channel Amateur Tour.
Golf Channel Amateur Tour events are generally stroke play and USGA® rules apply. Local Tour schedules consist of both one-day and two-day events. There are specialty events throughout the season that utilize alternate formats such as best-ball team play or match play.
Each event will have a separate entry fee that will vary based on the type of event and host course.
Players accumulate 'Order of Merit' points based on their finish in each event. These points will be used for season-ending prizes as well as a method of qualifying for special events, and most importantly, the National Championship.
At each event, the top finishers in all flights receive non-cash prizes. Prizes vary from event to event based on player participation. A percentage of each entry fee is put into a prize pool and then distributed amongst the flights. In order to abide by USGA® rules for amateur status, no single or cumulative prize value will exceed $750.
