| Texas native John Mahaffey serves as an on-course reporter for Champions Tour telecasts on the GOLF CHANNEL. He joined the Champions Tour as a player in 1998 after a lengthy career on the PGA TOUR, where he collected 10 victories, including the 1978 PGA Championship and the 1986 Players Championship. His lone victory on the Champions Tour was the 1999 Southwestern Bell Dominion, which was played in San Antonio, Texas, 14 years after he won the Texas Open in the same city on the PGA TOUR. Mahaffey started reporting for the GOLF CHANNEL in 2004, and he continues to split time competing in and reporting for Champions Tour events. He is known for his comic impersonations of other tour players; in fact, his imitation of Chi Chi Rodriguez's voice was thought to be even better than the real thing. | |
