Bio Update: Dave founded "The Barefoot Challenge", a nationwide putting contest to help raise money for children with autism. He currently owns a homecare business with his new bride, Julianne. He attributes everything good that's happened in his life in the last two years to The Big Break II. He is back wearing shoes on the course (stepped on a bee last year), and says he's "more calm and confident" these days. The only competitive golf Dave's participated in since The Big Break II, was when he, Don, and Mike all appeared on an episode of BBIV, competing against the US and European teams. However, he did shoot a 58 last summer. He says he's completely overhauled his golf swing to be able to "hit all the shots now," and is coming to Big Break VII: Reunion with one goal in mind- to win.
The Big Break II Bio: David played barefooted throughout the competition and eagerly displayed the hand-crafted artwork on his golf balls, which featured GOLF CHANNEL personalities and shows. A scrappy player, David admits his swing is homemade. Not recruited out of high school, he played his way to a full scholarship at the University of Hartford, where he won the first tournament he entered. During his Hartford years, he roomed with current PGA TOUR stars Jerry Kelly and Tim Petrovic, and became friends with Jeff Julian, the tour player who garnered recognition because of his struggle with ALS. David won 28 professional tournaments and has shot 9-under-par for 18 holes on two occasions. His moment of fame came in 1997 when playing in the PGA TOUR’s Westchester Classic as the low qualifier. During Friday’s round, CBS golf commentator Gary McCord described David’s only televised golf shot as a “flirtatious 7-wood” that nearly flew in for an ace.
